Demonstration of LAPSyd: lyon-albuquerque phonological systems database

چکیده
LAPSyD, the Lyon-Albuquerque Phonological Systems Database, is an online phonological database equipped with powerful query, mapping and visualization tools. It stems from the UPSID and WALS databases, enhanced with newly validated data not only covering segmental inventories but also syllable structures, stress and tonal systems. In its current version it covers around 700 languages and it is accessible at http://www.lapsyd.ddl.ish-lyon.cnrs.fr. This Show & Tell aims at providing an overview of the database content and features and demonstrating the richness of the queries and visualization tools available to the user.

متن کاملConstructing a global cross-linguistic database of basic phonological properties: Principles and challenges
There is an obvious interest in capturing general trends in the structure of phonological systems of the world’s extant languages. These may hint at overall design properties of human language, which in turn may have origins in basic human cognitive properties or characteristics inherited from the earliest human language(s). One tool that can be used to study such trends is a broadly-based cros...
متن کاملSmallholder Farmers’ Participation in Agricultural Training and Demonstration in Ethiopia: Implications for Inclusive Targeting by Agricultural Extension Services
Small farms and smallholder farming systems play crucial roles in agricultural development in many developing countries. From the various rural development programs designed to support such farming systems, agricultural extension services are of at most importance. However, the benefit that farmers obtain from these services and the resulting impact depends, to a great extent, by their direct a...
متن کاملEvolving Phonological Rules Using Grammatical Evolution
Phonetic transcription is a core procedure of continuous speech recognition systems and speech synthesizers. The more correct phonetic translation is the more successful applications using phonetic transcription are. Phonological rules translate text to graphemes. These rules significantly reduce size of databases with words and it’s phonetic transcription and speeds up transcription process. T...
متن کاملRepresenting Phonological Features Through a Two-Level Finite State Model
Articulatory information has demonstrated to be useful to improve phone recognition performance in ASR systems, being the use of Neural Networks the most successful method to detect articulatory gestures from the speech signal. On the other hand, Stochastic Finite State Automata (SFSA) have been effectively used in many speech-input natural language tasks. In this work SFSA are used to represen...
